Re-Opening Newman

Beginning in June of 2021 Newman UMC began to loosen some restrictions that have been in place to protect our community from transmission of the COVID-19 virus.   We established a re-opening team that will meet to review guidance from healthcare professionals and denominational leaders. This will be an ongoing process and will take some time . Our first rule is: Do no harm! This means we are going to do everything possible to keep our community safe and healthy.

Beginning June 6th, worship will resume in the Sanctuary.  There will be no congregational singing just yet. If you are not vaccinated please consider worshiping from home.  MASKS ARE REQUIRED FOR ENTRY!

ONLINE WORSHIP:  Join us Sunday's at 10am on Facebook for a livestream worship opportunity. The video will be available for viewing later on Newman's Facebook page and it will be available by Monday afternoon on the website under the WORSHIP ONLINE tab.

  • Message from Rev. Ryan

    Hello Church,

As we begin to move to re-open Newman I know that we are all filled with anticipation and excitement. I share this enthusiasm with you. Our re-opening team has worked hard to get us to this point. However, now is not the time to completely let our guard down. The virus is still present in our community and we still need to do what we can to keep our neighbors healthy.

For some of you, you feel like we are not moving fast enough, and for others it may feel like we are moving too fast. Your church leadership, myself included, are doing our best to find the right balance of caution and eagerness. Our primary priority is to "do no harm." Please keep the Newman UMC Re-Opening team in your prayers as we continue to our work.

    Re-Opening Team Members:

    Rev. Ryan (Co-chair)

Marianne Dwyer (Co-chair, Church Council Representative)

    Charlene Burgess (NUMC Office Manager)

    Jean Mount (Retired Nurse Practitioner)

Donna Oakes (worship/music design team member)

  • Giving

NUMC is 100% funded by the contributions of members and friends. Without your support NUMC would not have nearly the impact it does in our local community. Our ministry thrives because of your generosity!

Newman's staff, facility, utilities, and ministry still go on and require funding to operate no matter what stage of re-opening we're in. We would ask that you continue to support the church during this time as you have generously done so in the past.

You can give online by clicking HERE!

Or, you can give to the church by mailing a check to our mailing address:

    Newman UMC

    106 NW F Street #951

    Grants Pass, OR 97526

Or, you can give electronically via the Vanco Mobile App for smart phones. Go to your app store (google play on android) and download the Vanco Mobile app. Once you download the app you will be able to search for Newman United Methodist Church. Once you select Newman you'll be able to easily give to the church. This app is very safe and secure to use.

    Thank you for your generosity!
