Welcoming Rev. Ryan Scott on Sunday, July 14th

Join us on July 14th for Rev. Ryan Scott's first Sunday at Newman UMC!

Previously he has served churches in Toledo OR, Eugene OR, Springfield OR, and Seattle WA. Pastor Ryan is a Licensed Pastor in the Oregon-Idaho Conference of the United Methodist Church. He received his education at the Claremont School of Theology in Southern CA. Prior to being a pastor Ryan worked in after school program management and youth recreation programming.  Pastor Ryan loves exploring new ideas and imaginative ways of being church in the 21st century. He is passionate about social justice and the use of creativity to bring about positive social change in a community.

In his free time he enjoys spending time in the outdoors hiking, camping and exploring. Pastor Ryan lives with his fiance, Andre Casey, who is a graphic designer and marketing professional. They have a dog, Bailey, who is a bundle of energy and joy and can be expected to be seen around the church from time to time.

We are planning a pizza party to welcome Pastor Ryan and his fiancĂ©, Andre, to Grants Pass! Check back soon for more details on this event.

Electronic Giving

Interested in a convenient, consistent way to help our church grow?

Consider scheduling a recurring contribution today. You will no longer need to write out checks and prepare envelopes every week.

Even when travel, illness or other circumstances prevent you from attending services, your electronic contributions will continue to be received without interruption. Contact Charlene in the church office to find out how simple and safe it is to switch to electronic giving!

Ministry Opportunities

Children's Church Teacher

Join the team that leads our Children's Church time each week. Training and resources are provided and no experience is necessary. You just need to have a heart for kids and a willingness to help them explore their faith.

Grief Group Facilitator

We need a special person or two who have been touched by grief who are willing to help others through their grieving process.

Brewing Theology!

Friendly, wide-ranging conversation and good, locally-crafted beer? What could be better?

On the first and third Thursdays of each month at 6pm, folks from Newman UMC and Bethany Presbyterian gather to talk about the important theological, philosophical and occasionally esoteric topics of today. Please come give it a try! Also, if you have friends who are a little uncertain about coming to church with you, this is a great thing to invite them to!
